NEPC celebrated the advancement of one of our own: Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson!
Regie has served on the Board of the New England Poetry Club for more than a few years and has distinguished himself in his service on our BIPOC Grants Committee. He provided an excellent Poet In The House Workshop as part of our response to COVID, driving us all to Zoom. He helped judge contests on occasion, too. Regie melds many worlds—witness his funk band’s performance at the Boston Book Fair a few years ago (see photo). He gave us all these things and many smiles and laughs at Board meetings. We hope his responsibilities as Laureate will not drive him from us, but we wish him a huge, well-earned congratulations.
Our inaugural Massachusetts Poet Laureate is one of us!
