Jean Pedrick Chapbook Prize Winner, selected by Therese Gleason Carr
Samaa Abdurraqib, PhD (she/her) is based in Wabanaki Territory (Maine). She’s the editor of From Root to Seed: Black, Brown, and Indigenous Poets Write the Northeast (2023) and co-creator of the forthcoming collection Cape Cod to Nova Scotia: A Literary Field Guide for the Gulf of Maine Ecoregion (2027). Her chapbook, Towards a Retreat, was published Diode Editions in August 2025 and was named as the 2026 Eric Hoffer Chapbook Award winner. She has been supported by residencies with Indigo Arts Alliance, Hewnoaks, Monson Arts, and Hog Island Audubon. Samaa is a certified Maine Master Naturalist and is the Executive Director of Maine Humanities Council.
